Salica Investments Backs Kigen with £10 Million to Advance eSIM Cybersecurity

30 April 2026

LONDON, CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom, 30th April 2026 — Salica Investments, the UK-based investment firm backing high-growth companies across the UK and Europe, today announced a £10 million investment in Kigen, a global leader in eSIM and Remote SIM Provisioning security technologies.

The growth debt investment will support Kigen’s next phase of growth across the UK, EU, and US as enterprises and manufacturers respond to rising cybersecurity demands, increasing regulatory pressure, and the need to secure connected products across their full lifecycle.

Cybersecurity is becoming a board-level priority as connected products move deeper into critical operations, infrastructure, and enterprise transformation. In Europe, the Cyber Resilience Act is increasing the focus on secure-by-design products, vulnerability handling, coordinated reporting, and the ability to maintain security over the lifecycle of products with digital elements. In parallel, in the US, NIST-2 is raising expectations around cyber risk management, operational resilience, governance, and incident reporting across critical sectors and their supply chains.

Kigen’s capabilities are relevant for organisations that need to demonstrate secure connectivity architecture and long-term maintainability. Kigen works with manufacturers worldwide to provide secure, GSMA-certified eSIMs and management solutions across consumer, M2M, and IoT environments, with direct access to more than 200 terrestrial and satellite networks. Kigen has also positioned its latest eSIM offerings around security patching and updates at scale, helping make secure updates, auditability, and long-term support more straightforward and more predictable for manufacturers managing products over many years. Kigen’s platform is increasingly delivered through a SaaS model, giving customers flexible, usage-based access to OS licensing, management tools, and professional services.

This investment also marks Salica’s first backing of a company in Cambridge’s Silicon Fen, one of Europe’s leading technology ecosystems, which has fuelled significant global innovation. Originally a spin-out from Arm, Kigen has operated independently since 2020 with offices in Cambridge, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Noida, India. Kigen was recently recognised in The Sunday Times 100 Tech 2026 as one of UK’s fastest growing private tech companies and earned a place as an eSIM vendor in the Gartner’s 2025 IoT Hype cycle.

“Kigen is the kind of category-defining business we look to back,” said Usman Ali, Partner,  Venture Debt Fund at Salica Investments. “The team has built a highly differentiated platform at the intersection of connectivity and cyber security, with strong relevance for manufacturers and enterprises navigating a more demanding regulatory and operational environment. We are delighted to support Kigen as it scales across critical sectors and international markets.”

“We are excited to join the high-calibre portfolio of companies backed by Salica,” said Vincent Korstanje, CEO of Kigen. “This investment allows us to accelerate our next phase of growth with confidence. Our customers are looking for practical ways to strengthen cyber resilience, simplify regulatory readiness, and manage secure connectivity over the long term. This funding helps us move faster to support them with trusted, future-ready solutions.”
